YOU KNOW YOU ARE TOO OLD.......

You know you are too old to go to a (insert your favorite artist's name here) Jeremy Camp/TobyMac (formerly of the group dcTalk) concert when......

You walk into the Qwest Center through the main floor doors to see that they have removed all the chairs on the floor level. You anxiously look at your ticket and then quickly breathe a sigh of relief when you realize that your seats are not on the main floor.

You know a lot of people at the concert, most of them classmates of your 2nd grader.

You are relieved when the band plays a ballad so you can sit down.

You are the only one who holds up a lighter during the slow songs instead of a cell phone.

Before the concert and during intermission, as they flash text messages on the big screen, you don't even know what half of the messages say and certainly not what they mean.

You have to leave during the encore of the first act because you can not hold it any longer and you don't want to stand in the long line during intermission.

TobyMac body slams one of his band members and falls down and your first thought is, "I hope he is ok." instead of "Wow, that was so cool!!"

You are the only one in your immediate area who knows every single word, including the rap sections, of the song Jesus Freak (1995).

You are excited to see that TobyMac, who is now 43, does not jump, nor encourage the audience to jump for the entire 1 1/2 hour concert anymore, but instead does a lot of arm movements (including the roller coaster), which actually look a lot like the fist pumping of the 80's and you know you can handle that.

You can't find your car in the parking lot after the concert.

P.S. Actually, the concert was awesome. Although I will say there were some surreal moments of realization that we are really getting old!!!

THE MOON

I got so much enjoyment from watching the lunar eclipse last night. It was freezing cold here so I would run outside the front door for a couple minutes until I couldn't stand it and then I would come in and warm up. We had a great view from our front yard. My pictures didn't turn out so I am substituting these.

Thank you Lord for orchestrating such a wonderful display of your creation.

Sick Tuesday-Warning this is about Politics

I'm just distraught at the thought of McCain getting the Republican nomination. How can this party, a party that is supposed to represent conservatives, nominate a man (who won't be able to beat anyone-Does the name Bob Dole ring a bell?) who has turned his back on conservatives and conservative ideals at every turn?? He has never met a liberal idea he didn't embrace and he has consistently shown that he can not be trusted to vote for important conservative legislation. Yes he would be strong for our military, which is important, and I appreciate his military service to our country BUT he was contemplating LEAVING the Republican party in 2001. I don't know which is worse the scenario of him being the nominee for the Republicans or the scenario of Barack Hussein Obama (Is this really a possibility in a post 9/11 world? Please don't post and tell me that he's not a Muslim. I know he says he has a Christian background but it is still a little creepy!!) being the nominee for the Dems.

McCain and Hank (Jim Rome's name for Hilary) are basically the same candidate (only one wears a skirt most of the time). God help our country if the bumper sticker above is what our national ballot looks like in November. (Bumper Sticker courtesy of Matt Aho from Michelle Malkin's website)

Super Bowls Commercials

WOW!! What a great Super Bowl. So many times we have watched and the game has turned out to be a dud. Not tonight though. Everyone here was rooting for the Giants so it is a happy household.

Big Cheese (Bud Light) This was Sam's favorite.
Clydesdale Training (Budweiser)

LADY WITH UNIBROW (PLANTERS)I'm putting this one in caps because it was my personal favorite!!
Justin Timberlake (Pepsi)
Baby (E-Trade)

Tired of saying goodbye

Another friend moving (this time to Tennessee);
Another tearful good-bye.
Yes!! We will stay in touch.
Yes!! We will always be friends;
But it won't be the same.
We won't be sharing our everyday lives.
We will get to see each other, but only occasionally.

Am I selfish for feeling this way?
After all, the friends that move have a bigger adjustment.
They have to make new friends, find new favorite places;
Grow new roots.
Not an easy task I imagine.
But those of us left behind have an adjustment too;
Learning how to adapt, to change (not my favorite thing);
To live everyday life without these special connections.

Sometimes I wish that I lived in a simpler time.
Maybe the 50's or 60's when people were more likely to stay put;
When society wasn't so mobile, so transient.
All I know is that I'm tired of saying goodbye.
